Launched by Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) in 2000, World Partnership Golf (WPG) is Canada’s only national Golf event dedicated to raising funds and awareness to fight poverty in poor communities in Asia and Africa.
Held in 7 cities across Canada, the tournaments offer participants the opportunity to get actively involved in helping to address the causes of global poverty. For more than 14 years, the tournament’s success has been fuelled by donors, sponsors and volunteers alike, who believe that Canadians can bring about long term positive change in the developing world.
Thanks in part to the continuing loyalty of sponsors and players, and the selling out of many events, the 2016 World Partnership Golf tournaments raised over $1 million – an impressive result amid difficult economic circumstances. Collectively, the tournaments have raised $14 million since their start in 2000.
Since its inception, WPG has grown to become one of Canada’s most popular charitable events of the summer, attracting golfers to a unique, high calibre golf experience at prestigious courses, and an opportunity to network with other professionals in their community.
